On December 8th we will hike a scenic section of the Boyne river from Stackallen to Navan and back. We will meet at 10.30am beside the Stackallen bridge, see directions. The easiest route is to drive through Beauparc and take the right hand turn at the cross roads immediately after the petrol station on the right. Drive steeply down hill and turn right into the car park immediately before the bridge. Finish time will be dependent on time taken to complete activities but we expect to be done around 3-3.30pm.
The hike will also serve as a gear check by leaders so please bring all of the gear you would expect to bring if you were hiking in the mountains! For a full hiking gear list please refer here. Scouts should layer up in warm clothing and bring a packed lunch and a water bottle. We will be cooking so scouts should bring a plate or bowl and cutlery if they want to sample the cooked food.
Also this hike will feature:
- A photography competition - so bring your camera and be ready!
- Ready steady cook - we will be cooking up a tasty snack on portable stoves using ingredients supplied by the leaders.
